Which mobile devices are eSIM compatible?

The information given below is to the best of our knowledge, as of January 1st, 2024. The only way to be absolutely sure if a device is eSIM compatible is to check with the manufacturer. Some manufacturers restrict and enable eSIM functionally through the device operating system, so always make sure that your device is running the latest release of software.

NOTE: GigSky's service is not compatible with the eSIM.me platform.

In addition, to use GigSky's service, the device must be carrier unlocked.

Apple iPhone

An iPhone is unlocked if it says “No SIM restrictions” in the “Carrier Lock” section of the Settings > General > About screen. 

  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or later

NOTE: eSIM on iPhone is not offered in China mainland. In Hong Kong and Macao, some iPhone models feature eSIM. An iPhone supports eSIM if you see the “Add eSIM” option in the Settings > Cellular screen.

Apple iPad with Cellular

  • iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) Wi-Fi + Cellular*
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd through 6th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (M4) Wi-Fi + Cellular*
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st through 4th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular
  • iPad Air 13-inch (M2) Wi-Fi + Cellular*
  • iPad Air 11-inch (M2) Wi-Fi + Cellular*
  • iPad Air (3rd through 5th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular
  • iPad mini (5th and 6th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular

* iPad Pro (M4) Wi-Fi + Cellular and iPad Air (M2) Wi-Fi + Cellular models are activated with an eSIM and do not have a physical SIM card.

Your device is eSIM-capable if you can see "Add eSIM” in Settings > Connections > SIM manager

A Google Pixel is eSIM-capable if you see the “Download a SIM instead?” Option after tapping Settings > Network & internet > SIMs +.

NOTE: Pixel 3a from South East Asia, Japan, and Verizon US are not compatible with eSIM.

Huawei

  • P40, P40 Pro

NOTE: The P40 Pro+ and P50 Pro are not compatible with eSIM.
