If you’ve upgraded to a new smartphone and want to continue using GigSky, welcome to your new device!
Because GigSky eSIMs are single-device only and cannot be transferred between phones, you’ll need to install a new eSIM profile on your new phone.
Option 1: You Still Have an Active Plan
If your GigSky data plan is still active on your old phone:
Your existing eSIM cannot be moved or reused on another device.
(This is a limitation of eSIM technology and because GigSky does not yet operate an entitlement or transfer server.)Delete or deactivate the GigSky eSIM on your old phone (optional, but recommended to avoid confusion).
-
Purchase a new plan for your new phone:
Open the GigSky app on your new device.
Sign in with your GigSky account.
Choose your destination and data plan.
⚠️ Very Important: On the Order Summary screen, under Target Device, make sure to select “New eSIM Device.”
This ensures your new plan is delivered to your new phone and not linked to your old eSIM.Complete the purchase and follow the prompts to install your new eSIM.
Your new GigSky eSIM will activate right away and work independently of your old one.
💡 Tip: If you still have data left on your old plan, you can keep using it on your old phone until it expires.
Data plans are tied to the eSIM profile itself, not to your account balance.
Option 2: You Haven’t Bought a Plan Yet
If you just got your new phone and want to start using GigSky on it:
-
Check device compatibility:
Your phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked.
See our guide: Check if your device supports eSIM ›
Install the GigSky app from the App Store or Google Play.
-
Sign in (or create a new account) and purchase a plan for your destination.
When you reach the Order Summary screen, select “New eSIM Device” as your Target Device before completing the purchase.
That’s it - your new GigSky eSIM will install and activate directly on your new phone.
⚠️ Important Notes
Each GigSky eSIM is unique and cannot be transferred, copied, or reused.
If you try to scan the same QR code on another phone, you’ll see an error such as “This code has already been used.”
For security and privacy reasons, GigSky cannot manually move or re-provision an existing eSIM.
Choosing the wrong Target Device (for example, your old phone) may cause your new plan to attach to the old eSIM. Always select “New eSIM Device.”
✅ Summary
