Recommended Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots

In order for you to be able to use a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot with a GigSky SIM, you must pay attention to the following requirements:

  • The hotspot must be carrier unlocked.
  • The hotspot must be able to receive SMS messages.
  • It must support the frequency bands used by the local networks at your destination. To be used in both North America and Europe, it should support the following frequency bands - GSM/2G (850/900/1800/1900MHz), UMTS/3G (850/900/1900/2100MHz). At this time, there is no hotspot that offers global LTE support.

We sell a customized version of the ZTE MF971V mobile hotspot that is configured to work with our SIM card. You can buy the hotspot from our website:

The following mobile hotspots have been tested, and we can recommend them for use with your GigSky SIM card:

  • Sierra Wireless AirCard 754S (GSM/2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/3G 850/1900/2100MHz)
  • NETGEAR AirCard 763S (GSM/2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/3G 850/1900/2100MHz)

The following mobile hotspots have also been tested, and we can recommend them for use with your GigSky SIM card with one reservation - the APN setting may need to be reset each time you visit a new country:

  • Huawei E587u-5 (GSM/2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/3G 850/900/1700-AWS/1900/2100MHz)
  • Huawei E5776s-32 (GSM/2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/3G 850/900/1900/2100MHz)
  • Huawei E5338 (GSM/2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/3G 850/900/1900/2100MHz)

The following devices are compatible, but do not support 3G networks in the United States and much of the Americas:

  • TP-Link 5350 (GSM/2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/3G 900/2100MHz)
