Setting the APN on an Apple iOS device

In order to use GigSky data, your device needs to use an Access Point Name (APN) of "gigsky" (without the quotation marks, all lower case). If you're using our service with an eSIM, the APN will be set automatically.

If you're using a removable SIM card, you can find out how to set the APN on the Apple Support site here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201699

In some cases, your domestic carrier may have hidden the APN menu option. In these rare cases, you can download and install a configuration file from this page. NOTE: Only install this file if your GigSky SIM card is installed on this device. If you have a SIM card from a different service provider installed on this device, downloading and installing the configuration file will stop your data connection from working.

  1. Turn your iPhone OFF.
  2. Swap out your carrier SIM card for your GigSky SIM card.
  3. Turn your iPhone ON.
  4. Connect to a WiFi network.
  5. Open a browser and navigate to this page (https://support.gigsky.com/hc/en-us/articles/206263067).
  6. Install the iOS APN configuration file by tapping this link - gigsky.mobileconfig
  7. Tap Install, enter the device Passcode (if prompted), and tap Install.

Your APN is now set to gigsky. You will still need to turn Data Roaming and buy a data plan for your SIM card at app.gigsky.com.

When you're ready to use your domestic carrier's SIM card again, do the following:

  1. Turn your iPhone OFF.
  2. Replace your carrier SIM card.
  3. Turn your iPhone ON.
  4. Turn Data Roaming OFF.
  5. Delete the iOS APN configuration file by going to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management.
    1. Select the gigsky profile.
    2. Tap Remove Profile, enter Passcode (if prompted), and tap Remove.
  6. Toggle Airplane mode.
